Featured Photographer - October 2013

Susan LaDean I first became interested in photography when I opened a trunk of my father's old photographs. Because I showed such great interest, my fourth grade Christmas present was a brownie camera. In my junior year, my family moved to San Bernardino and photography was offered at my new high school. Now that I have a digital camera and, with help from excellent teachers, some photoshop skills, I am able to create images that would be difficult to find in reality. I enjoy taking portraits of animals and children that are aware and adults that are not. Many adults have a difficult time being at ease or natural in front of the camera. Those that enjoy being in front of the camera are a pleasure to photograph. For the rest, I try to capture that moment when the subject is not posing but just being themselves. Those moments make the best portraits.
