Mike Livingston I’m a late bloomer when it comes to photography. It was probably 1996 or so when I began using my dad’s Minolta X-700 film camera. A beginners workshop through Redlands Camera hooked me good. Then I received my first digital camera, a Minolta Dimage 7i, as a Christmas gift. The Minolta gave way to a Canon 30D, and then a Canon 7D. Although I’ve been roped into shooting weddings for family and friends, my love is the outdoors, and I have taken to keeping a camera with me now. I love light, lines and patterns, and I’m learning to pay attention to reflection. I joined Redlands Camera Club in 2011. I don’t have much opportunity to shoot, but I’ve met some great and immensely skilled photographers in the club. Their encouragement and what they teach me through their work draws me and motivates me continually to slow down, look around, reach beyond … and keep a camera nearby at all times.
