John GianniniI am a soon to be 65 year old, retired California Correctional Officer, who has had a long love affair with Photography as far back as I can remember.I took my first photography class in 1961 and worked out my High School schedule in my senior year to where I was in the photography class for 3 classes a day. After a 3 year period in the Army where I was unsuccessful at becoming a combat photographer, I opted for Military Policeman, instead of infantry. I still managed to work photography into the job when I was made a Traffic Accident Investigator for about 18 months. I returned to Photography classes again in the late 1970's at San Bernardino Valley College and later at Riverside City College.Once I took the plunge into digital Photography a whole new world has opened up for me. I have often wondered how I could have ignored photography for so long. I still use a 4x5 Deardorff as well as a Sinar Norma but not as much as I would like. Portraits and Still life photography is where I find great pleasure, as well as some of the most inter personal anger when I do not achieve what I want to display in my photos. Plainly stated, sometimes I get it right and sometimes I don't. Photography is something that is and will be a big part of my life.I have been a photograph and camera collector for several years and love restoring old photographs when I can.
