Eric BerlinerLike many photographers, amateur and professional alike I started in grade school using my dad’s Argus C3 camera and later moved into my first SLR, a Miranda Sensorex II.Sometimes I wish I could go back to the days with the Miranda’s metering and match needle exposure mechanism. I had the obligatory “side yard darkroom” and loved working with black and white. With the technology changing to digital, I followed the crowd.I’m now using a Sony A-500 with a couple of decent lenses. My photographic interests are candid people, that place where culture and ethnicity meet photo journalism, traditional tall ships and fishing boats as well as landscape. Most old buildings, machinery, things left over from days gone by are always of interest to me. Learning to shoot them is an ongoing process. It is always amazing to me that 2 photographers can take the same or similar pictures and have the resulting image be so different. I’m always looking for the different image, angle, exposure settings, and lighting. There is so much to learn, practice, and find my own direction in.
